Burny Swanky Spider PRB-60 Pale Pink 2008

Burny Swanky Spider PRB-60 Pale Pink 2008

Burny Swanker Spider PRB-60 bass, pale pink, made 2008. Exactly how the Swanky Spider series came to exist is a bit of a mystery, but hey, they're rad. This is in the genre of a Rickenbacker 4001, but it's bolt-on, medium scale (32") and with a different bridge and pickup setup. It sounds great; there's a sweet plump low end with plenty of attack and punch, balanced by a P-bass-ish midrange growl with chirpy, understated treble. It's light in weight with sturdy hardware and a moderate slim round neck; it's super easy and addictive to play and feels as if it comes pre-loaded with heaps of stanky riffs. The pink finish has yellowed to a sweet strawberry custard hue; paired with the skull knobs and star inlays, the whole thing is supremely kitsch. We had to put the pink strings on to match, right? These very seldom pop up anywhere in the world for sale, so if you like it, you shoulda put a ring on it.

Model: Burny Swanky Spider PRB-60
Made: Taiwan (I think!), 2008 approx (serial FG08061126)
Finish: pale pink, 2-ply cream guard
Body: alder
Neck: maple with rosewood board, 32" scale, 15.75" radius
Weight: 3.660kg
Mods: none
Pickups: Fernandes BTT-4 passive humbucker x2
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock has some minor scuffs on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor marks on the back only. The back has widespread very light scuffs; no major marks. The sides are pretty clean, just a couple of dimples and some rub marks near the knobs. The front is pretty clean, just some dimples behind the bridge and on the elbow area and some play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, both truss rods work. There's some wear on the frets, but heaps of life in them yet, 7/10 for fret life left. Electronics all tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
