Daion Performer Series PB500 Yellow Sunburst 1979 Left Handed

Daion Performer Series PB500 Yellow Sunburst 1979 Left Handed

Daion Performer Series PB500, made in Japan around 1979, sunburst, lefty. Daion is a Japanense brand, named for a word that means 'mighty sound'. They were made under the same umbrella as the excellent Yamaki acoustic guitars. This example bears a little 'made in Japan' decal on the neck, which helps to date it: the 80s-era models were made in Korea, so this most likely dates to the late 70s. As is common on lefty models, some of the usual headstock decals are missing, so you don't get as much to go on. The bass is in amazing shape, there's barely a mark on it. The build and finish quality is very good, you can tell a lot of attention to detail went into it. The pickup is pretty hot, delivering a punchy, growling tone with plenty of low end and midrange kick. If you're a longsuffering southpaw after a solid bass to record or perform with, this is a great little understated overachiever.
