ESP Custom Shop Surveyor Bass Sunburst 2005

ESP Custom Shop Surveyor Bass Sunburst 2005

ESP Surveyor Bass, made in Japan 2005, two tone sunburst. This is awesome, it sounds enormous. In the mid 00s, you could order variations on ESP catalog models if you had the cash and patience, and that seems to be what we have here... it's got a Sado Custom Shop serial number and a slightly different setup to the regular Standard Series model. First, the neck: it's a Jazz Bass style 38mm nut, with a fast slim C shape with a fairly generous taper. it feels amazing, the quality of maple and  rosewood used and the exacting workmanship is outstanding. The body is made from a hefty piece of two-piece centre joined ash. If you don't mind the weight, you'll be rewarded with a compelling tone. It's approximately Stingray-flavoured, with a punchy midrange and plenty of sustain, but with an added dose of articulate clarity on the top end... halfway between a really tasty active Jazz and a Ray. The 50s style sunburst is a classy look too, it adds some vintage flair to a pretty modern offering. This will cover all sorts of tonal ground with ease and feels superb. It would've been eye-wateringly expensive new, so nab a bargain and laugh to yourself about how good life is.
