Fender '70 Reissue Precision Bass Olympic White 1999-02

Fender '70 Reissue Precision Bass Olympic White 1999-02

Fender P, '70 Reissue, aged olympic white finish, crafted in Japan 99-02. These CBS-throwback Ps have the big headstock with the bold black logos, a black guard and a heap of attitude. The original bright shiny olympic white finish has yellowed to a sweet cream colour, and the back has a patch-work look from a bunch of uneven fading from since-removed stickers... they're not visible from the front, which adds a cheeky appeal. The alder body and US pickup deliver a stack of attack, roundness, warmth, growl and grit; the tone is the life of the party and sure to get some hips moving. The weight is pretty friendly and perfectly balanced, this is a great working-player's go-to bass. If you're after a bass that'll do black-tie weddings on Friday night and then sweaty punk shows on Saturday, this will surely do both without breaking a sweat.

Model: Fender Precision Bass '70 Reissue, PB70-70US
Made: Japan, 1999-02 (serial P070978, CIJ)
Finish: vintage white, 3-ply black guard
Body: alder
Neck: maple with rosewood board, dot inlays
Mods: thumb rest attached
Pickup: original Fender Japan PB style
Case: very basic gig bag

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. The most obvious thing is the stickers marks on the back; there's no residue, but the fading is uneven. Aside from that, it's pretty clean. There's a ding on the end of the headstock, a couple of minor marks near the bridge, a little bit of light scratching on the back and on the guard, and some yellowing of the lacquer generally. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets look almost great, 8.5/10 for life left. Set up with fresh 45/105s. Very good!
