Fender Japan 50th Anniversary Telecaster TLG-94 Vintage White 1996

Fender Japan 50th Anniversary Telecaster TLG-94 Vintage White 1996

Fender 50th Anniversary Tele, double bound creamy vintage white, made in Japan 1996. Do you have a mouthful of gold teeth and a large leather hat? This is the guitar for you! All jokes aside, this has a whole lot of cowboy swagger. One of these exact Teles popped up on tour with The Edge of U2 fame in the mid-nineties, including the Japan shows, so while it's not a signature model, the association remains strong. Tone-wise, it's a great guitar. There's a certain percussive quality to the tone, it packs a huge, thick attack with a punchy low end and low-midrange. That lends itself to big riffs and janky right hand playing, although a light touch will certainly bring out the sensitive and eloquent side of the tone too. The neck is an absolute winner: super tightly grained maple capped with a gorgeous streaky rosewood slab fretboard, carved to a superbly playable vintage style slim-C shape... perfect. The pearloid, gold and cream combo with the matching headstock is sure to ignite strong opinions on both sides, but hey... life's too short to please everyone, right?
