Fender Japan '58 Stratocaster ST58-70TX Sunburst 2004

Fender Japan '58 Stratocaster ST58-70TX Sunburst 2004

Fender '58 Strat, three tone sunburst, crafted in Japan 2004-5. We get heaps of '57 Strats through the shop, but a 1958 model is much less common. There's not a lot of difference, but... you get a maple board and a lovely three tone sunburst, which is a combo you can't get on a '57 or '62 model. The neck is a lovely piece of maple, there's some tight, detailed grain on show on both edges of the board and the moderately chunky D-shape profile feels really intuitive in the hands. The USA-made Texas Special pickups are great. They're an overwound single coil, so there's a bit of extra output and low end on deck to thicken and tighten up your chords, but with a light touch or the volume rolled off a whisker, they clean up beautifully. The nuance and breath of each note comes out clearly, it's an expressive and warm tone that rewards a light touch. This is a really lovely Strat, it'll make someone very chuffed indeed.

The sides have a couple of dimples on the top horn, in the elbow area and near the jack.
