Fender Japan '62 Precision Bass PB62-500 Sunburst 1990

Fender Japan '62 Precision Bass PB62-500 Sunburst 1990

Fender '62 Precision, sunburst, made in Japan December 1990. This is a nice take on the  classic genre: nothing beats a P, right? The 1962 Precision Bass got silver spaghetti logos, a slab rosewood fretboard, a tort guard and a three tone sunburst finish, so this beauty gets all of those things too. The neck is a comfy moderate C shape, with a pretty standard 42mm nut and some really lovely dark streaky rosewood on the board, and it feels very comfy in the hands. The finish has a few knocks and marks but looks pretty good for a bass now well into it's mid-thirties; it's got a certain streetsmart panache to it. The tone is great: full and fat, growly midrange, tuneful and warm without being attention seeking. It will surely round out the low end of any band or recording very convincingly. Fun fact: the P stands for phun.
