Fender Japan '62 Precision Bass PB62-700 Sunburst 1990

Fender Japan '62 Precision Bass PB62-700 Sunburst 1990

Fender '62 P, sunburst, made in Japan 1990. This, friends, is classy. These early Fujigen era Fender Japan instruments enjoy a reputation for exceptional build quality and wood selection, and this is certainly no exception. It feels awesome: light, acoustically loud and very resonant, with an arrow-straight neck and everything exactly as it ought be. The USA pickup delivers a bright and articulate take on the classic P growl and thump; there's plenty of thick juicy lows on tap, complemented by a tasty rich midrange. The sunburst finish shows off the subtle grain of the alder body; it's lightly aged but not beaten and really looks a treat. The freshly polished frets and chrome parts add a little sparkle, plus some vintage correct appointments like the spiral bridge and reverse tuners are a nice touch. Understated P goodness.
