Fender Japan '62 Stratocaster ST62-58US Vintage White 2000

Fender Japan '62 Stratocaster ST62-58US Vintage White 2000

Fender '62 Strat, vintage white, crafted in Japan 1999-02. No-one famous or notable ever played a white Strat, so you'll be the first, right? This is a really enjoyable guitar. First up, at 3.2kg, it's very light for a Strat. Combined with the always agreeable 60s style vintage C neck, this is a very easy player indeed. The dark streaky rosewood has some intriguing streaky details in the grain, and paired with the creamy yellowed white finish and the classic headstock, this looks as classy as an overpriced cheese platter. I can't quite make a watertight scientific case for this, but here goes: as seems to be often the case, the lightweight body seems to translate to a little more oomph and immediacy on the low end when you plug this in. It's fat and punchy, with a detailed midrange and plenty of attack and eloquence. If you're going to buy a Strat, it may as well be a good one, right?

Model: Fender '62 Stratocaster (ST62-58US)
Made: Japan, Dyna plant, 1999-02 (serial P090121)

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a dent on the end and a scuff on the bottom side. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, very minor dimples on the back only. The back has some light scuffs on both horns and around the cavity, as well as some dimples in the elbow area and back edge. The sides have some minor chips and scuffs on the top horn and elbow area, dents near the jack and a scuff and chip on the bottom horn; nothing major. The front has some dimples around the jack, behind the bridge and in the elbow area, as well as some light scuffs on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets have some minor wear but look pretty tidy and are freshly polished,  7/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
