Fender Japan '72 Reissue Stratocaster ST72-70M Natural Ash 1989/90

Fender Japan '72 Reissue Stratocaster ST72-70M Natural Ash 1989/90

Fender Japan '72 Strat, natural finish, made in Japan 1989/90. This is a very pretty Strat... the natural finish really lets the amazing grain of the the ash show through; it's a delight for the eyes. The equally-blonde maple board has also aged to perfection; it's an attractive golden hue that ties the whole look together nicely. USA made 70s Strats can be super heavy and hit-and-miss in quality, but these Fujigen-made 70s style Strats are generally brilliant players, and this is no exception. The neck is perfect: slim, sturdy, lovely timber, expertly finished... satisfying. The body is light and resonates enthusiastically with each note; it feels very alive in the hands and is quite hard to put down. Tone-wise, it's all Strat: thick and juicy with a lovely spanky attack, crispy clear highs and a scooped, defined body. The clarity and richness on offer is excellent; it's equally rewarding either pushing a tube amp or clean as a whistle. This is how Strats should be: gorgeous, light and cooperative, and with plenty of sauce in the tone. Nice!

Model: Fender '72 Reissue Stratocaster (ST72-70)
Made: Japan, 1989/90 (serial J026101)
Finish: natural gloss over ash, 3-ply white guard
Body: sen ash
Weight: 3.5kg approx
Neck: maple with maple board, dot inlays
Mods: none
Pickups: neck and middle: Fender US ST-Current // bridge: Dimarzio HS-3 noiseless stacked single

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's a very minor ding on the end of the headstock and a few little marks on the neck. The front of the body is pretty clean, just a couple of dimples near the input jack. The back is pretty clean too, just some scuffs and light scratches around the missing back plate and a scratch on the top horn. There's some scuffs/scratches on the bottom side near the input jack. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is very low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have a little wear but no major buzz issues and plenty of height, 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 10/46s.
