Fender Japan '72 Telecaster TL72-55 Natural Gloss 1989

Fender Japan '72 Telecaster TL72-55 Natural Gloss 1989

Fender '72 Telecaster, natural gloss, made in Japan 1988-9. This one glows, right? These 80s era MIJ Telecasters are beautifully built; this is no exception. The neck is a sweet piece of golden maple, subtly grained and perfectly straight and a joy in the hands; it's on the slimmer side but with a sensible round profile that's sure to please. The natural finish has yellowed beautifully with three decades on the clock; it's a rich caramel hue that really lets the grain of the ash tell it's many tales. It's in remarkable condition for it's age too; this has clearly been treated like a precious baby. The ash/maple combo offers plenty of tonal zing; this is bright and articulate but with a nice warm openness and complexity through the midrange. If you're a classic, classy, understated Tele that will give you the warm fuzzies, this one is very charming indeed.
