Fender Japan Mustang Bass MB98-SD Competition Ocean Turquoise 1997-00
Fender Mustang Bass, crafted in Japan 1997-00, ocean turquoise metallic with cream comp stripe. Mustang basses are charming little items: the short scale, slim neck and offset body make them stupendously easy players. The short scale also anchors the thumpy, thick, immediate tone that'll slot perfectly into punk, grunge and surf. Every finish looks good on these, but surely ocean turquoise deserves a special mention for being totally gorgeous. The comp stripe adds a little bit of muscle-car cool to the mix for good measure. These are getting frustratingly hard to source as demand for them has skyrocketed in recent years and they were never made in huge numbers. If you've got more swagger than you know what to do with and have been referred to as a 'pocket rocket', this is surely your natural match.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some very minor marks on the end and back. The neck is pretty clean, no major marks. The back has a minor ding right in the middle and on the bottom horn as well as some very light buckle rash around the place. The sides have a few minor marks spread around them: on the top horn, on the comp strip, in the shoulder area, near the rear strap pin and on the bottom corner around from the jack. The front is pretty clean, just some minor marks in the shoulder area and on the stripe and some minor play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: Action is low, intonation is good, neck is straight, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 45/105s.
