Fender Japan Supersonic Blue Sparkle 2021
Fender Supersonic, blue sparkle, made in Japan 2021. Friends, welcome to the Upside Down. The Supersonic first appeared as part of the short lived (but awesome) Squier Vista Series, which were made by Tokai in Japan in 1997-8. The model got a reboot with a Fender brand out of Mexico, as well as new Squier version, but this Fender Japan version is a lot harder to track down. First things first, it's a Jaguar body, but upside down, because of course. That's a cool shape, and in a nice touch, you get a trapezoid neck plate with a rounded heel join to improve the upper fret access, given the lower horn protrudes a bit. The neck is awesome: 24" short scale, slim C shape, arrow-straight and well executed: it's so easy to play. The Dragster humbuckers deliver a meaty, immediate tone with a great balance of low end kick and midrange snarl. The simple Strat trem is easy to deal with, much less complicated than the Offset Vibrato. Oh, and it's blue sparkle. Can I get a 'hell yeah'?
