Fender Telecaster Special '52 Reissue Black/Gold 1993/4

Fender Telecaster Special '52 Reissue Black/Gold 1993/4

Fender 'Collector's Series' Tele Special, black with gold hardware, made in Japan in 1993/4. This is an unusual model. The black/gold/rosewood look is superbly classy, especially with a few miles on the clock. The checked finish and aged gold look awesome together. Tone-wise, it's all there: the HB in the neck dolls out the thick, creamy sauce; a perfect contrast against the twang and bite of the classic-T single in the bridge position. The neck is slim and round, similar to a 72 reissue in profile and instantly familiar and comfortable. These Fujigen-era Teles are increasingly rare

Model: Fender Telecaster Special, Collector's Series (TLG80-55)
Made: Japan, 1993-94 (serial O016572)
Finish: gloss black, 3-ply black guard
Body: American basswood (as per catalog, could possibly be sen ash)
Neck: maple, maple board, mild V profile
Mods: none
Weight: 3.4kg
Pickups: Fender Japan TL Vintage Single and Dragster HB
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. There's some long checking lines along the back and front of the body, as well as a few minor dings; most notably behind the bridge and on the back of the body. The gold hardware has aged a cool vintage look, especially the bridge plate. Guard has some normal scratches. Overall: good condition (7.5/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. The frets are in good shape, there's a little wear but plenty of life in them, 7/10. Super cool!
