Greco EG500 Cherry Burst 1978

Greco EG500 Cherry Burst 1978

Greco EG500, cherry burst, made in Japan 1978. This is quite stunning, frankly. The top is a gorgeous piece of bookmatched flame maple, it's got no business being attached to a guitar under $3k but hey, I'll take it! The burst finish has aged gracefully, and paired with a super dark rosewood board, aged abalone logo and smoky chrome parts, this really looks gorgeous. The neck is a slim 60s style profile, rounded and friendly and a lot of fun to move around on. These three piece necks are super sturdy, so this is straight as an arrow with no breaks and a heap of natural resonance. The pickups are very creamy, so there's a nice warm chime to the bridge pickup and a thick, gooey punch to the neck. This is a perfect example of a 'lawsuit Les Paul'; there's a reason these caused such a stir in their day and beyond. Grheck-yeah!

Model: Greco EG500

The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, few little dimples on the back only. The back has some minor dimples, scuffs and a few checking lines around the body; no major marks. The sides have a series of little chips/dents in the elbow area as well as minor dimples around the rest of the body. The front has a little chip on the top edge in the elbow area, as well as a fade mark on the bottom horn, some checking lines around the body and a few light scuffs here and there. Overall: good condition (7/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear but no major buzz issues, 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
