Gretsch 7593B Black Falcon 2001

Gretsch 7593B Black Falcon 2001

Gretsch 7593 Black Falcon, made in Japan 2001. I'm proud to present the biggest, blackest, blingy-est guitar we've ever had: all hail the Falcon. Back in 1954, the original White Falcon debuted at the NAMM show, built to showcase the skill and artistry of Gretsch's Brooklyn-based luthiers. The Black Flacon didn't come along until Fred Gretsch Jr purchased the family company back from piano guys Baldwin, launching a few years into the 'reboot' era in the mid 90s. This particular model references the 1975 version of the Falcon: big headstock, block inlays, ebony fretboard, sparkly binding and lots of gold. It's quite something to look at; I hope you've got a tailored suit or ballgown to match. The neck is fairly slim and very comfy, and even though it's a big body, it's not too heavy and fairly friendly to sit or stand with. The Filter'Tron pickups deliver the goods: the tone is a gorgeous mix of shimmer and snarl, low end punch and high end piquance. There's an abundance of body, warmth and depth  to the sound, but it still has that slicing top end that endears Gretsch guitars to so many of us. Lots of fun!
