History ZP-CFS Vintage White 2003

History ZP-CFS, made in Japan 2003, vintage white. This is ace, get around it. History is a house brand for major Japanese instrument chain Shimamura, who have stores all over Japan. They're made at the legendary Fujigen Gakki plant, the very same factory that made all those famous Fender Japan guitars from 1982-96 as well as producing Ibanez Prestige and other spicy dishes to this day. This is a super handy P-style, it's very well executed indeed. The neck is on the slim side for a P, although it's still a couple of millimeters wider at the nut than a Jazz Bass. The 'Circle Fretting System' means the frets are slightly parenthetical in shape, which improves intonation and sustain. The original black guard was switched for a white one, so it's looking extra fresh and crisp. The sound is awesome: fat and meaty down low, a pleasing punch in the mids, understated high... it will sit in a mix perfectly. These are such great value basses, you could easily spend twice the cash on F-logo stuff and get something not nearly as convincing in the hands.
