Used Yamaha SA1000 Super Axe Semi-Hollow Transparent Red 1979
Yamaha SA1000 Super Axe, transparent red, made in Japan 1979. These are Yamaha's copy of the classic Gibson 335, and they're exceptionally awesome. The build quality is remarkable; all the details are spot-on and it really feels amazing in the hand. The SA1000 model features and ebony fretboard and a more deluxe version of Yamaha's PAF-style covered humbuckers, so you get a little extra brightness and definition compared to the more basic model. The tone will handle all sorts of styles: jazz, rock, blues and more are right at your fingertips. The trans-red finish has aged gracefully, the grain of the plain maple is on full display. The real beauty is in the feel: this is an absolutely stupendous semi-hollow that just keeps on giving. Don't tell too many people about these, they're still affordable even though they've got to be one of the best vintage 335s anywhere.

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Body, neck and headstock have a few minor dimples and scratches, nothing major. There's a few very minor scratches on the board from cleaning, it'd be easy enough to tidy up with the right tools. The chrome parts all work fine, there's some pitting and discolouration. Binding has some fading and marks but no cracks. Pickguard missing. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, intonation is good, action is low, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have minor wear, they're in great shape for their age with no major pitting, 7/10. Setup with fresh 11/49s.
