Yamaha SA700 Super Axe Semi-Hollow Natural 1977

Yamaha SA700 Super Axe Semi-Hollow Natural 1977

Yamaha SA700 in natural, made in Japan 1977. These were Yamaha's take on the iconic Gibson ES-335. The SA series like this are some of Yamaha's longest running and most revered models; sit still for five minutes around here and you'll cop an earful about their many virtues. The natural finish on this one has aged to a sweet golden hue and is in remarkable condition for a 42+ year old instrument; it's certainly something to behold. The tone is magic: a harmonically rich, open midrange completed by a warm rounded bass, a singing clear treble and a rhythmic, crystal clear attack. The quality of timber and craftsmanship on offer is remarkable, every inch of the guitar is exactly right. That translates to a satisfying playing experience; the moderate round neck is a dream, the body is very talkative and full of charm... it's a delight in the hands. Life plan: buy this, play it daily, love it dearly, pass it on to your grandchildren. Sorted!

Model: Yamaha SA-700 'Super Axe'
Made: Japan, 1977 (best estimate, serial 001383)
